"Full of Sauce."

Last week I went to town on making my own variety of sauces and dressings. All in attempt to be frugal but primarily healthy. You make it, you know what goes in it. Granted not all of the following recipes are the most nutritious, but they taste delicious (and in our house are considered "weekend stuff").

Another perk of making your own sauce or dressing is that the recipes are considerate of your time and easy to make. These recipes call for things that you already have in your cupboards. So if you carve out an hour or so (including clean-up) on menu-planning day or baking day, or whatever day that you have, it's easy to include a little sauce in your life.

Most importantly, a good sauce or dressing is much needed in life. It adds flavor and substance to a good meal. And as Geoffrey Chaucer said,

"Woe to the cook whose sauce has no sting."

So, fellow cooks, allow me to share with you a few sauce recipes that possess sting.

When I make sauces and dressings, I want to make them all at once since they require similar methods and ingredients and then you're stocked up. I can't take credit for the recipes, but I can put all of them together in this one spot so that when you want to make a few, you know where to go. Just click on the pictures and they'll take you to the recipe!

Pizza Sauce
(claimed to be the best)

BBQ Sauce
(much like Sweet Baby Rays)

Chick-Fil-A Sauce
( can I get an amen?)

This link also shares how to make the nuggets! And if you're like me with no Chick-Fil-A remotely close, even in the same state, this is a great find. Andrew & I made these together a few weeks ago--seriously, so good!

Super Easy Blueberry Sauce
(for when you're feeling like pancakes or a good wedding favor)

theCrumbster's Favorite Dressings

Ranch Dressing Mix
(a classic and necessity in our home)

If you want to be healthy, I suppose you could make your own mayo as well...but I'm still loyal to Hellmans.

Citrus Vinaigrette
(I could eat this on salad every day and not miss ranch, that's saying something!)

My version of the Winter Salad (based on what was in the fridge) ended up being comprised of Romaine, Feta Cheese, Sunflower Seeds, Apple Slices, and Pomegranate Arils.
And let me tell you, it was dang good.

Honey Balsamic Dressing
(has good sting to it and satisfies the taste buds)

And this salad actually calls for the things that were in my fridge. If you haven't tried apples & pomegranate on a salad, put it on the bucket list...it will change salads forever in your mind.

And there you have it, some basic sauces/dressing that are easy to make, great to have on hand, and add some sting in your life. You're welcome.
